These are different paths: choose the one that best reflects you today. The first step for everyone is to get to know one another and explore real possibilities, timing and conditions together.

The five possibilities are distinct, but can evolve over time. A collaboration or financial contribution does not imply residency; an experience is not an application to join the community.
An important clarification: the “Who are we looking for?” section below applies only to people interested in becoming permanent residents. Volunteers, collaborators and service participants do not need to match this profile.

Shared assets,
a living community.
We want to establish a mutual exchange cooperative and gradually acquire the village as a shared asset. We are inspired by the Les Pas-Sages model because it centres human and relational benefits: living without isolation, sharing responsibility, supporting one another in everyday life and building belonging over time.
The value is not only property. The cooperative is conceived as a tangible form of mutual support: a home offering autonomy and privacy, together with opportunities for connection, reciprocal care, participation and continuity between generations.
Seven homes, different lives
We envision seven independent units—studios, one-bedroom apartments and larger homes—for individuals, couples and families with different needs.
Bio-building on the ruins
Where possible, we will assess restoring or replacing the ruins with new bio-built homes, subject to planning and environmental checks.

In the LPS model, decisions seek consent and responsibilities are shared among the assembly, daily management and operating circles. Communication, feedback and conflict management accompany common life.

The intention is to allow contributions through shares and/or periodic payments, including arrangements similar to rent, gradually supporting the cooperative’s acquisition of the properties.
For Akupara, the following are still to be defined: amounts, payment allocation, timing, entry requirements, rights to use the homes and exit conditions. Paying shares or contributions does not automatically mean acquiring individual ownership of a home.
Akupara uses the LPS model as a reference: it is not presented as an already established cooperative or a project already affiliated with the network.

Who are we looking for
as residents?
Individuals, couples and families who want to make Akupara their home and help build a stable community.
We are interested in meeting people whose journey is already underway and who are ready to bring presence, autonomy and responsibility. This is not a list of perfect requirements, but the profile with which we feel the strongest affinity.

Having experienced shared routines, spaces and responsibilities, understanding both their value and challenges.
- A path of personal and spiritual growth
Having devoted time to self-knowledge, with a desire to continue and openness to different sensibilities.
- Willingness to question oneself
Looking at one’s habits and ways of relating, welcoming feedback and responsibility.
- Financial independence
Being able to cover agreed expenses and contributions through independent income or resources, with transparency about commitments.
- Ability to listen and engage
Expressing needs and boundaries, listening and moving through conflict with openness to dialogue and facilitation.
- Presence and continuity
Wanting a stable residence and devoting time to common life while respecting work, family and personal space.
- Shared talents and responsibilities
Bringing skills, initiative and care to the management of spaces, meetings and activities.
- Affinity with the place and its values
Feeling at ease in a rural setting, cultivating simplicity and understanding the cooperative project.
Financial independence does not mean already owning a home or significant assets. The cooperative aims to make gradual contribution possible; amounts and conditions will be agreed explicitly.
The first step remains getting to know one another: sharing your story, meeting and exploring whether wishes and possibilities align with the project.

Counselling and work with human relationships, especially romantic ones, together with strategy, sustainability and regeneration.
Dr Biagio De Luca
Physician, physiatrist and osteopath. He practises integrated medicine with a person-centred approach.
How responsibilities grow in the community
Ilaria and Biagio are guiding the founding phase. The future mutual exchange cooperative will be designed with reference to Les Pas-Sages values, agreements and ways of working. Statutes, roles and decision-making areas still need to be defined for Akupara.
Residents, collaborators, volunteers, guests and members follow distinct paths. Mutual acquaintance, practical participation and explicit agreements are envisaged.
